School 4.0: innovative schools, wiring, new classrooms and workshops (Mission 4, Component 1, Investment 3.2)Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan provides for updating school facilities into adaptable, flexible and digital learning environments, with technologically advanced workshops and a work-based learning process.This measure accelerates the digital transition of the Italian school system with four initiatives:- Transformation of around 100 000 traditional classes into connected learning environments, with the introduction of related educational devices- Creation of workshops for digital professions in the second cycle- Digitalization of school administrations - Interior wiring cabling of approximately 40 000 school buildings and related devices.The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 2.1 billion.As part of this investment, the project is developed in different actions that aim to implement on the one hand the equipment of existing furniture with modular and flexible and on the other to enhance the technological and digital equipment acquired through previous PON and PNSD funding.In our four institutes are already present: touch screens (LIM and Digital Board) in almost all existing classrooms, virtual reality device, educational robotics kit, computers including some stationary and other mobile, tablets, mobile charging trolleys, access points, wheelchairs and a good number of trapezoidal desks that can create new configurations within the classes.Therefore part of this endowment will be inserted in the new learning environments, where the physical spaces will be reorganized in a flexible way, modular and inclusive by making take on a functional setting to the different activities and didactic planning that see students engaged not only in individual or collective use, but especially in research and comparison, in the reworking and creation of content through the use of digital languages.The different actions will allow the creation of learning environments that guarantee the educational success of each individual student and especially of those who manifest fragility and special educational needs, and put themselves as a prevention to early school leaving.
