New construction indoor sports complex "Calvino"

School building security and structural rehabilitation plan (Mission 4, Component 1, Investment 3.3)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan contributes to climate recovery also by enhancing school buildings’ safety and energy consumption.

In particular, this measure aims to contribute to the improvement of energy classes and leading to lower consumption and CO2 emissions as well as to increase structural safety of buildings. Particular attention is paid to the most disadvantaged areas with the aim of tackling and eliminating economic and social imbalances.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 4.4 billion.

The project for the construction of the indoor sports complex "Calvino" is part of this investment.

The project aims to re-functionalise two disused blocks of the former Pontieri Laboratory (in continuity with the still active military complex of the Pontieri Engineers), covering an area of approximately 2,500 square metres, transforming them into an advanced school facility dedicated to secondary education with 3 sections.

The NRRP funds allocated to this project amount to EUR 2.1 million.
