The Recovery and Resilience Facility contributes EUR 714.3 million to reducing the negative effects of nitrogen emissions of the Netherlands, which have notably affected species and habitats, and restore vulnerable nature. The investment contributes to achieving favourable or improved conservation status conditions for species and habitats through the implementation of actions in or around Natura 2000 areas. In the framework of the investment, implementation plans for each of the 12 provinces are developed. The administrations of the provinces receive the necessary financial resources to carry out the nature restoration actions. These actions consist of nature quality improvement, hydrological actions, conservation and optimisation of the layout of nature actions to compensate for forest loss, transitional zones, and recreational zoning or control of invasive species.
