Copyright: European Commission Works shall be completed on at least 1,400 km of network within the Atlantic and Mediterranean Corridors, including actions to improve existing sections and investments to make progress in the construction of new sections. Actions will be carried out on the Y Vasca, on the stretch connecting Valladolid to Palencia and León and from León to Pola de Lena to advance the arrival of high speed in Asturias. Also, within the Atlantic corridor, Adif intends to use European funds to speed up the launch of the high-speed train, AVE, to Badajoz, with workss on the Talayuela-Plamero – Cáceres-Mérida-Badajoz section.Additionally investments will be carried out on the Zaragoza-Castejón-Pamplona line, including the construction of platforms, track installation, electrification and implementation of signalling and traffic control. Projects on the Mediterranean corridor will be implemented on several lines such as Castellón-Valencia-La Encina-Alicante, Murcia-Cartagena, Murcia-Almería or Zaragoza-Tarragona. The investment shall cover a) new infrastructure and platforms: b) Actions that shall restore existing services (light, irrigation, water, etc.) which are affected during the execution of the railway works; c) Actions for the assembly and supply of track materials on new railway sections, as well as the renewal of existing tracks; d) Actions addressing the electrification of lines; e) Projects addressing the implementation of new signalling and traffic control systems; f) projects addressing fixed and mobile telecommunications on railway lines. g) Upgrading and rehabilitation of existing stations, as well as the construction of new stations. This project received around EUR 2.987 million from the Recovery and Resilience Facility and covers several types of actions among which electrification and construction of new infrastructure.
