National Public Health Prevention Programme / Cardiovascular Risks Prevention

"Prolamvano" is a national public health prevention programme designed to cover nearly the entire population of Greece. It ensures that all eligible individuals have access to life-saving preventive care, contributing to early diagnosis and better health outcomes.

The programme provides free, easy, and quick access to preventive diagnostic screenings for breast cancer, cervical cancer, colorectal cancer, and cardiovascular risk.

Cardiovascular Risks Prevention

This programme is available to 5.5 million men and women aged 30-70 who reside in Greece and have a Social Security Number (AMKA). The free tests provided include:

• Total cholesterol (TCHOL)
• Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)
• High-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C)
• Triglycerides (TGs)
• Blood glucose (CL)
• Complete blood count (CBC)
• Lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a))

Additionally, participants undergo a medical consultation with their personal physician, a private specialist (Cardiologist, General Practitioner, or Internist).

If pathological findings are identified, further cardiac evaluation is performed to assess for the presence or absence of coronary artery disease.

In cases where findings indicate possible ischemia, further diagnostic testing may include stress echocardiography with contrast or myocardial perfusion scan.
