Cancer research, which occupies approximately 25% of all biomedical research in the Czech Republic, has a long tradition in the Czech Republic and its current results are above average in international comparisons. This is one of the reasons why the National Institute for Cancer Research was established. It helps Czech cancer research make the most of the available research infrastructure and human potential by linking already collaborating cancer research centres that are complementary in terms of topics, technology and infrastructure into a nationwide network. Thanks to this project, we are creating a decentralised network of 71 top research teams from 11 excellent research institutions, which are regionally divided into 3 nodes in Prague, Brno and Olomouc and cover the whole Czech Republic in their impact. 6 teaching hospitals, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and other partners have also declared their interest in cooperating with NÚVR.
