Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance The national financial literacy strategy will contribute to increase the financial well-being of the population, and enhance the effectiveness of financial literacy initiatives in the country. Austrian stakeholders from the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors engage in a permanent dialogue, cooperate towards common objectives and implement evidence-based, mutually reinforcing initiatives. The strategy contains an Action Plan with second-level objectives and 41 concrete action tools which contribute to policy and cross-cutting priorities. The implementation of the strategy will benefit all individuals in Austria and focuses on eight life stages to support them with dedicated financial education resources. The Action Plan is complemented by annual work programmes. The Financial Literacy Stakeholder Council was set up with its bodies to implement the strategy and achieve its goal. Following the resolution of the strategy by the Council of Ministers at the end of September 2021, the bodies of the Financial Literacy Stakeholder Council (Executive Board, Steering Board, Financial Literacy Community, Scientific Committee) and a temporary sub-committee on women and financial literacy were established. Furthermore, a website was created to inform citizens and list financial literacy initiatives. Currently, a financial education portal as a one-stop-shop for information on financial literacy topics and a self-assessment tool is in progress and will be launched in the first half of 2024. There are a number of other activities aimed at creating awareness about financial literacy among citizens e.g. the event format "Finanzbildung im Dialog", the Financial Future Day or newspaper articles on economic and financial topics.
