Modernisation of infrastructure and digitalisation in higher education institutions

Modernisation of infrastructure and digitalisation in higher education institutions
Copyright: Hungarian University of Fine Arts (Magyar Képzőművészeti Egyetem)

The long-term goal of the project is to achieve infrastructure, organisational, educational, research, and revenue growth-focused developments at the institution by 2026. As a result of the comprehensive infrastructural development, the Hungarian University of Fine Arts will become a more economical and sustainable "greener" university in terms of its current programs. This will involve the improvement of training facilities for the arts: workshops, studios, equipment, exhibition spaces, and a renewed technology park. With the inclusion of new locations, educational organization will become more efficient, and human resource capacity will be expanded to provide cultural knowledge accessible to not only students but the broader society as well.

The direct goal of the development is to support the proper operation of the University through the project by developing digital infrastructure that aids practical education/training, acquiring and installing digital tools, enhancing the digital skills of both students and staff, and supporting activities related to digital teaching. Additionally, the project plans to implement necessary installations of strong and weak electrical systems and optical cable setups, expansions, upgrades, and improvements for the installation of digital equipment.

The development will take place in three key areas:

  • The establishment of an optical ring network infrastructure, enabling fast and secure access to data repositories.
  • The development of the server system and wireless network.
  • The expansion/upgrading of user devices through the acquisition of modern mobile IT tools and devices that support digital and interactive teaching.
  • With the implementation of the developments listed in the project, it will be possible to ensure the production, storage, and secure access of digital content related to university education and research, for both lecturers/researchers and students.

As a result of the development 700 individuals will receive digital training, and 1,040 digital devices will be installed at the university.

The non-refundable grant amount is EUR 2.03 million.

The project is currently in progress, the third milestone has been completed, and the project’s expected completion date is April 30, 2026.
