Modernisation of the educational infrastructure and implementation of energy efficiency measures in the primary school "St. Kliment Ohridski" town of Pavlikeni

The building of “St. Kliment Ohridski” Primary School was constructed and brought into operation in 1908 as a two-floor building with a basement. 

Today the main building has three floors and a basement. More than once it’s been overbuilt, added on to and repaired. 

Children 1st-7th grade attend the school. It functions on weekday schedule from 6:30 to 19:30, while weekends and official holidays are days off. The total number of its occupants is 380 people in single-shift mode.

The investment in the modernisation of the educational infrastructure and introduction of energy-efficiency measures in “St. Kliment Ohridski” Primary School, financed with EUR 1,6 million from the Recovery and Resilience Facility, will provide the necessary equipment guaranteeing healthy and quality conditions for studying, and a modern, safe and favorable environment that contributes to educational results and learning motivation.

A set of energy-saving measures will be implemented: External thermal insulation of façade walls, thermal insulation of roofs and above ground parts of heated and unheated basement, redesigning and replacement of water heating and lighting installations, replacement of water circulation pumps, automatic and conforming management, supply and installation of PV off-grid system 12,00 kW. Reconstruction of the building and surrounding area will be implemented in compliance with the mandatory prescriptions from the executed Survey to establish the technical characteristics under art. 169, par. 1 of the Law on Spatial Planning to ensure a complete renewed outlook of the school both inside and outside. An accessible architectural environment will be created, providing for the needs of the people with special needs, conformed with Ordinance №RD-02-20-2/26Jan,2021.

The necessary infrastructure for STEM environment will be created as a part of the overall modernization of the building, incl. specialized rooms–Natural sciences laboratory, rooms of maths and physics and astronomy, room of natural sciences, and zones for students' socialization and seclusion.
