Copyright: Elaphe, d.o.o. As part of the project, the company Elaphe is developing solutions that will contribute to important technological breakthroughs in the field of power electronics and energy converters for electric vehicles.Subproject 1: Power electronics (SiC/GaN) Intended for the development of power electronics for driving electric motors. The development is based on a new generation of semiconductor transistors (SiC/GaN), which enable halved heat loss, operation at higher temperatures and a reduction in the volume of electronics by up to 20%. The key result will be a prototype of power electronics that increases the efficiency of drive systems and contributes to longer ranges of electric vehicles or smaller batteries.Subproject 2: Energy converters (GaAs) The goal is to develop advanced thermoelectric converters based on gallium arsenide (GaAs), which will convert excess heat into useful energy. The intended result is three prototype series of chips with experimental validation of the new converter concept, which enables higher efficiency without the need for a temperature difference. This technology has the potential for wider use in other industrial applications. The IPCEI ME/CT project brings together 68 projects from 14 EU Member States, involving large companies, SMEs and research institutions. European co-financing enables the development of innovations that will be key to the future of European microelectronics and contribute to a sustainable future. The Recovery and Resilience Facility provides funding of EUR 750,000, while the total value of the investment is EUR 1.6 million. The project started in January 2023 and will be finalised by June 2026.Additional photos: Copyright: Elaphe d.o.o. Copyright: Elaphe d.o.o. Copyright: Elaphe d.o.o.
