Long-term care

The reform is set to improve the provision of long-term care by end-2022.

The Social Welfare Act has already been amended to require local authorities to consider the principle that a person must be able to live as long as possible in his or her home, in his or her usual environment, with sufficient quality services available.

In addition, an Action Plan is adopted providing for the establishment of an integrated care model throughout Estonia, laying down the roles and responsibilities of the actors involved and defining the financing of the system.
