School building security and structural rehabilitation plan (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.3)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan contributes to climate recovery also by enhancing school buildings’ safety and energy consumption.

In particular, this measure aims to contribute to the improvement of energy classes and leading to lower consumption and CO2 emissions as well as to increase structural safety of buildings.

Particular attention is paid to the most disadvantaged areas with the aim of tackling and eliminating economic and social imbalances.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 4.4 billion.

The project is part of this investment.

The school complex is divided into three buildings:

Hall A with offices and classrooms, Hall B with classrooms and the auditorium renovated in the early 2000s and Hall C with the pair of gyms and relative changing rooms and services.

The vertical development is two floors above ground.

The roofs are pitched in corrugated steel sheet and protected with double layer in bituminous sheath and aluminum film.

The two pavilions A and B have along their perimeter a pair of armed cls projections, one for each floor, with a function of solar shielding and protection from atmospheric agents.

The element occurs in conditions of partial and localized degradation in some places.

The internal partitions are mainly realized with plastered or civil perforated brick masonry and simple aluminium windows.

The building in which there are the gyms presents in the two warheads the locker block and services, while in the center there are the two playgrounds, divided by a tarpaulin in the center.

The planned interventions are the replacement of the windows and the integration of solar screens.

The solar shields are the concrete projections that are located above the windows.

For most of the buildings have already been overhauled with previous contracts and this project is expected to accommodate the remaining not yet renovated.

The restrooms are also to be renovated.
