Copyright: Città metropolitana di Torino School building security and structural rehabilitation plan (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.3)Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan contributes to climate recovery also by enhancing school buildings’ safety and energy consumption.In particular, this measure aims to contribute to the improvement of energy classes and leading to lower consumption and CO2 emissions as well as to increase structural safety of buildings.Particular attention is paid to the most disadvantaged areas with the aim of tackling and eliminating economic and social imbalances.The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 4.4 billion.The project is part of this investment.The '8 Marzo' Institute is located in the municipality of Settimo Torinese, in the Borgo Nuovo district at Via Leinì 54.It is part of the school district in which every order and grade is present, from the Kindergarten to the equal grade ITI 'Galileo Ferraris' in Via Don Gnocchi.The complex was built in the 1980s and consists of the classroom building with auditorium and the gymnasium building, which is the subject of intervention.The gymnasium has numerous structural, functional and accessibility deficiencies.Its load-bearing structure consists of reinforced concrete pillars and shed roof trusses; internal partitions in brickwork made on site; external infill consisting of prefabricated concrete elements.Inside, there are two playing fields, a grandstand with visitor services and changing rooms, storage rooms and services below the bleachers.The interiors are obsolete and the sizing of the services and the distribution of flows are inadequate.In addition, the following critical issues are noted: seismic vulnerability, fire prevention, removal of architectural barriers, and CONI homologation for the facilities in operation.The Metropolitan City of Turin therefore plans to carry out four macro-categories of intervention: securing the structure for seismic adjustment; CONI homologation; fireproofing adjustment for public entertainment facilities; and the removal of architectural barriers.Top 100 recipients:CITTÀ METROPOLITANA DI TORINO Copyright: Città metropolitana di Torino ReferenceM4C1Project locations Italy EU contribution€4 400 000 000
