School building security and structural rehabilitation plan (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.3)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan contributes to climate recovery also by enhancing school buildings’ safety and energy consumption.

In particular, this measure aims to contribute to the improvement of energy classes and leading to lower consumption and CO2 emissions as well as to increase structural safety of buildings.

Particular attention is paid to the most disadvantaged areas with the aim of tackling and eliminating economic and social imbalances.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 4.4 billion.

The project consisting in fire control measures is part of this investment.

The building that houses the branch of the "Passoni" and respects the canons of modern architecture, arousing great interest from the Faculty of Architecture of Turin.

It is in fact located in the area where the Istituto di Magistero della Regia Università once insisted, bombed twice (the first on 9 December 1942, the second on 8 August 1943).

The building is equipped with a smoke detection and sound diffusion system: both systems, however, are dated and subject to failures that do not guarantee continuity of operation, resulting in no guarantee of coverage in terms of fire safety.

The planned measures are necessary to adapt the fire detection system.

The choices and the adopted planning criteria follow the general line approved in phase of Examination Plan from the Provincial Command of the Prov. of Turin made available by the Appaltante Station.

In particular, in order to ensure the total safety conditions of the school complex, in agreement with the administration, the fire detection system will be rebuilt.
