Copyright: Città metropolitana di Torino School building security and structural rehabilitation plan (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.3)Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan contributes to climate recovery also by enhancing school buildings’ safety and energy consumption. In particular, this measure aims to contribute to the improvement of energy classes and leading to lower consumption and CO2 emissions as well as to increase structural safety of buildings.Particular attention is paid to the most disadvantaged areas with the aim of tackling and eliminating economic and social imbalances.The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 4.4 billion. The project is part of this investment.The works in question are planned on the building of the Birago Institute located in Corso Novara at the corner of Via Tollegno. The professional institute created in 1924 by the will of FIAT has this location since 1942.The current building was built in the early 60’s.The building is divided into three sections dedicated to teaching and divided into three levels above ground: the main building overlooking Corso Novara, the north/west body on Via Tollegno and the north/east body overlooking the school area Grazia Deledda.The project involves a series of extraordinary maintenance works aimed at adaptation, the restoration of particularly damaged building elements of the school building, the reclamation of asbestos fibre-containing infill elements (MCA) and a series of related works.In particular, the facade panels containing asbestos will be removed and replaced with new glass that will ensure a substantial increase in energy efficiency and will be carried out work to complete the flooring of workshops.Top 100 recipients:CITTÀ METROPOLITANA DI TORINO Copyright: Città metropolitana di Torino ReferenceM4C1Project locations Italy EU contribution€4 400 000 000
