School building security and structural rehabilitation plan (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.3)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan contributes to climate recovery also by enhancing school buildings’ safety and energy consumption.

In particular, this measure aims to contribute to the improvement of energy classes and leading to lower consumption and CO2 emissions as well as to increase structural safety of buildings.

Particular attention is paid to the most disadvantaged areas with the aim of tackling and eliminating economic and social imbalances.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 4.4 billion.

The project consisting in structural interventions is part of this investment.

The I.T.I.S. "A. Avogadro" dates back to the early 1900s.

It is a valuable building protected by the Superintendence, located in the historic center of the city of Turin, included in the perimeter of the historic central urban area nineteenth century.

The school complex is extended and consists of six buildings, that develop from one to four floors above ground, put in communication with each other through connecting sleeves.

The school is the result of interventions that have followed and stratified over time.

the plan previews a series integrated of participations of rationalization and valorization of economic type, of the resources and the well-being of the occupants, in order to improve the use of the spaces of the building complex with energy efficiency and eco-sustainable.

Specifically, the intervention includes: the replacement of a first part of the iron windows; the remaking of the interior of the raised floor; the reconstruction of the gym and one of the buildings.
