Copyright: Città metropolitana di Torino School building security and structural rehabilitation plan Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.3)Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan contributes to climate recovery also by enhancing school buildings’ safety and energy consumption.In particular, this measure aims to contribute to the improvement of energy classes and leading to lower consumption and CO2 emissions as well as to increase structural safety of buildings.Particular attention is paid to the most disadvantaged areas with the aim of tackling and eliminating economic and social imbalances.The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 4.4 billion.The project consisting in fire control measures is part of this investment.The school complex was built in the municipality of Rivarolo in the north of the province.Originally it was divided between the "Aldo Moro" High School and the "Luigi Lagrange" Institute.This complex, characterized by ribbon windows and architectural movement in the façade and roof, is composed of classrooms, offices and laboratories and the body of gyms.The structure is a reinforced concrete frame, with perimeter infill in empty formwork masonry and band fixtures.The main interventions, aimed at adapting the fire protection systems to current regulations, are summarized in the following list: demolition of the existing pumping unit in the well adjacent to the water reserve in the school courtyard; excavation for stripping and cleaning plant soil above the water reserve tank and execution of trench for passage new pipe connection between the new pumping unit and the distribution plant; supply and installation of a new fire-fighting pumping unit consisting of a main electric pump, a reserve diesel motor pump, a compensation electric pump; construction of a new distribution network for the UNI45 hydrant supply at the school; electrical power supply of the new pumping unit; supply and installation of a new UNI45 hydrant in the corridor of the gym of the "ALDO MORO" headquarters; supply and installation of a new pump connection at the entrance of the Institute’s headquarters in via Gallo Pecca 4/6; connection of the new plant created in the head office building with the existing plant in the branch of the institute in via Roma; modification of the pipe attested to the existing fire engine connection of the branch with the direct connection on the back of the supply.Top 100 recipients:CITTÀ METROPOLITANA DI TORINO Copyright: Città metropolitana di Torino ReferenceM4C1Project locations Italy EU contribution€4 400 000 000
