Copyright: Città metropolitana di Torino School building security and structural rehabilitation plan (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.3)Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan contributes to climate recovery also by enhancing school buildings’ safety and energy consumption.In particular, this measure aims to contribute to the improvement of energy classes and leading to lower consumption and CO2 emissions as well as to increase structural safety of buildings.Particular attention is paid to the most disadvantaged areas with the aim of tackling and eliminating economic and social imbalances.The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 4.4 billion.The project is part of this investment.The school complex is located in Grugliasco between Corso Allamano, Via Crea and Strada Comunale del Barocchio, just outside Turin.New residential neighbourhoods are being built in the areas close to the school complex, and the expansion of the school complex would contribute to the redevelopment of the neighbourhood and increase the area's educational/cultural/sporting offer.Negotiations are currently underway with the CUS Torino for the management of both the rugby sports complex and the eight gyms so that they will be available to the area beyond school opening hours and, with the expansion of the sports offer, constitute a sports centre for the entire area.The complex has numerous critical issues related to the obsolescence of the building elements and the wear and tear caused by school activity: internal and external finishes, toilets, electrical systems, internal and external doors and windows, false ceilings, bituminous roofing sheaths, etc.Although numerous extraordinary maintenance and regulatory upgrades have already been carried out in recent years to respond to the critical issues present, these have always been partial and have not so far allowed for an overall upgrading of the building, especially from the energy point of view.For the Barocchio school complex, the focus was on a project for the energy and building renovation and upgrading of the building and gyms, which includes: seismic upgrading; upgrading of electrical and special systems; energy improvement works; fire prevention upgrading; renovation of toilets and obsolete plant components; interior finishes; upgrading of internal courtyards.Top 100 recipients:CITTÀ METROPOLITANA DI TORINO Copyright: Città metropolitana di Torino ReferenceM4C1Project locations Italy EU contribution€4 400 000 000
