IR Optical 2 - Digitalisation of education and science

The project provides fibre optic connections of 1Gbps in primary and secondary education and adult learning organisations. The project is implemented by the Academic and Research Network of Slovenia (ARNES).

All contracts necessary for the implementation of the project have been carried out.

By February 2024, out of 204 planned connections: 

• 182 have been finalised, handed over and formally registered at the Public Economic Infrastructure Cadastre (GJI) at the Surveying and Mapping Authority of the Republic of Slovenia;
• 10 have been executed and verified, with the registration ongoing;
• 9 were in the handover process;
• 3 in the implementation phase.

The Recovery and Resilience Facility provides funding of EUR 4.9 million, while the total value of the investment is EUR 6.2 million. 

The project started in January 2022 and will be finalised by June 2024.
