IPCEI Hy2tech: Faurecia project: new generation of hydrogen tanks

Faurecia’s project is part of the IPCEI (Important Project of Common European Interest) “Hy2tech”, which aims at developing and industrialising two new generations of carbon fiber gaseous hydrogen tanks and liquid hydrogen storage. The project includes accelerating development of more sustainable tanks focusing on the use of low-carbon materials and recyclability and cryogenic technology.

R&D activities are managed in Bavans, and the industrialisation phase will happen at Allenjoie plant, which is Faurecia’s first hydrogen storage mass-production plant.

The objective of this project is to reduce the price of hydrogen storage for mobility and distribution applications. The installation of the pilot production line for the GenII gas hydrogen tank is scheduled for mid-2026.
