IPCEI Hy2tech: Alstom project: hydrogen train solutions

Alstom Transport has launched an ambitious hydrogen roadmap, as part of the IPCEI “Hy2Tech”, structured around three technological innovations: hydrogen traction bricks, hydrogen locomotive and high-power hydrogen fuel cell generator for freight.

This project contributes to the objective of developing “zero-emission” innovative solutions (hydrogen fuel cells, batteries, converters and storage systems) to replace diesel-based rolling stocks in different segments (regional passenger trains and locomotive) on the European rail network. Eight Alstom sites are involved, including the “historic” one in Belfort.

The project started in September 2021 and will be completed in 2027.
