Plan for the extension of full-time (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 1.2)Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan provides for the extension of school time, in order to increase the educational offer of schools and make them open and available to the territory beyond school hours. The measure envisages the construction or renovation of canteen spaces for at least 1 000 structures to allow for the extension of school time. Extended schooling hours are expected to have a positive impact on the fight against early school leaving. The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 1 billion. As part of this investment, the intervention concerns the construction of a canteen to serve the “San Nicola II” preschool and primary school in Via Ceva 244. The building, of fairly recent construction, is designed with a mixed reinforced concrete structure, roofing of the classrooms and common rooms in curved glued laminated timber beams and a wooden roof above. The school houses classrooms, in addition to the office and service areas, but is not equipped with suitable premises for learners to eat meals, who must also use the classrooms during the lunch break. The venue will be built in the school's exclusive outdoor location and will have a total area of 150 square metres. The connection between the room and the school building will be provided by a protected walkway, also accessible to disabled users. The typology of the new building will be similar to that of the main building. This project is financed by the Recovery and Resilience Facility with EUR 300.000,00.
