Increasing access to culture in culturally deprived areas, PORTRETE DE ROMI

The project, PORTRETE DE ROMI, CREAREA UNUI FILM DOCUMENTAR ȘI COLECȚIE FOTOGRAFICĂ PRIVIND COEXISTENȚA ÎNTRE ROMI ȘI NEROMI DIN MICROREGIUNEA CRISTURU SECUIESC (JUDEȚUL HARGHITA), which received EUR 33,425.77 without VAT, proposes the realization of a documentary film, a photographic exhibition and an informative publication on Roma identity strategies and interethnic coexistence, in the micro-region of Cristuru Secuiesc.

It focuses on a paradox explored by previous research.

On the one hand, in this region the borders between Roma and non-Roma are relatively permeable, social and cultural distances are relatively small.

On the other hand, however, Roma are excluded from local cultural representations and perceived through rather rigid stereotypes.

Through visual storytelling, the project aims to find a way to contribute to the cultural empowerment of Roma communities, to approach the Roma majority and to develop more equitable and inclusive local cultural representations.
