Removal of physical and cognitive barriers in museums, libraries and archives to enable wider access and participation in culture  (Mission 1, Component 3, Investment 1.2)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan provides for the removal of architectural, cultural and cognitive barriers in a number of Italian cultural institutions.

Interventions shall be combined with training for administrative staff and cultural operators, promoting a culture of accessibility and developing expertise on legal aspects, reception, cultural mediation and promotion.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and resilience plan by EUR 300 million.

The project ""Inclusive library - removal of physical and cognitive barriers in Villa Obizzifa"" is part of this investment.

The objective of the project is to remove physical, cognitive, sensory barriers to make the library more inclusive and usable also for people with cognitive and sensory disabilities, with actions such as: realization of two snoezelen rooms, signage in LIS (Italian sign language) and CAA (Alternative Augmentative Communication) for visually impaired people or with reading difficulties, new highly readable books, in CAA, braille, tactile and audio books, actions under the Plan for the Elimination of Architectural Barriers.

The Recovery and Resilience Facility contribution amounts to EUR 91,713.
