Copyright: Statutární město Brno The project is divided into 2 stages, stage VII - left bank of the river, stage VIII - right bank of the river. The aim of the project is to protect persons and property of the inhabitants of the city of Brno from floods, revitalise the watercourse, make the area concerned more attractive and free the area for further development, as the existing buildings and areas intended for redevelopment near the river are now significantly limited by the floodplain of the Svratka River. The implementation of the proposed measures will increase the capacity of the Svratka riverbed in the section from km 37.028 to 40.174. The flood protection will be linked to the river revitalisation, bringing the regulated river and the floodplain closer to the natural state in the entire area under consideration. A sub-objective is to create conditions for recreation and leisure activities of the inhabitants in close proximity to the river. The number of inhabitants protected by the flood protection measures was determined in the project documentation to be 5 823 people.
