School building security and structural rehabilitation plan (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.3)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan contributes to climate recovery also by enhancing school buildings’ safety and energy consumption.

In particular, this measure aims to contribute to the improvement of energy classes and leading to lower consumption and CO2 emissions as well as to increase structural safety of buildings.

Particular attention is paid to the most disadvantaged areas with the aim of tackling and eliminating economic and social imbalances.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 4.4 billion.

The project consisting in structural interventions is part of this investment.

The building I.I.S. "Enzo Ferrari" is located in via Couvert, 21 in Susa (TO) and collects an important catchment area formed by the Alta Valle di Susa, up to the Turin conurbation, given the specialized training offer.

The school complex consists of two buildings: one intended for frontal teaching, the other for laboratory activities.

The first building is divided into four floors, from the basement to the third.

In the basement is located the auditorium while in the remaining floors are the classrooms, offices, services, and storage.

The second body is spread over a single floor above ground and is occupied by workshops for practical exercises on fluid mechanical, electrical and simple machining and machine tools.

The main interventions envisaged in this project are: completion of the adaptation of electrical installations in the auditorium area; replacement of existing emergency equipment and integration where necessary; complete replacement of the existing smoke detection system; complete replacement of the existing gas detection system in the chemistry laboratory; extension of the safety sound diffusion system to the integral coverage of the complex; replacement of fluorescent lighting with new LEDs; replacement of the current pumping station.
