Copyright: Città metropolitana di Torino School building security and structural rehabilitation plan (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.3)Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan contributes to climate recovery also by enhancing school buildings’ safety and energy consumption.In particular, this measure aims to contribute to the improvement of energy classes and leading to lower consumption and CO2 emissions as well as to increase structural safety of buildings.Particular attention is paid to the most disadvantaged areas with the aim of tackling and eliminating economic and social imbalances.The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 4.4 billion.The project consisting in structural interventions is part of this investment.The project involves the construction of a new building, two floors above ground, located northwest of the lot, adjacent to the north sleeve of the existing school building, in Via San Francesco da Sales n. 190 in Carmagnola.It is a building that will be connected functionally with easy access and protected at both levels of the north wing of the existing building.In the basement there will be a food laboratory with various environments of service and support such as changing rooms, the office, warehouses, the waste room and the room for refrigerators and a new bathroom block serving the existing laboratories in the basement of the north sleeve of the school.On the mezzanine floor there will be a gym, with changing rooms, support spaces and toilets.Access to the two levels can also take place from the outside through a system of stairs and ramps located on the south-east front, towards the courtyard.The realization of this space, lowered compared to the current country plan, will improve the level of natural lighting and ventilation of the two existing laboratories, through the demolition of a section of the space along the south side.From the compositional point of view, the new volume is presented as a parallelepiped of dimensions of about 15.60 x 32.50 meters, with an above ground height of 9.75 m.; it will be covered with prefabricated panels and polycarbonate sheets.Top 100 recipients:CITTÀ METROPOLITANA DI TORINO Copyright: Città metropolitana di Torino ReferenceM4C1Project locations Italy EU contribution€4 400 000 000
