School building security and structural rehabilitation plan (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.3)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan contributes to climate recovery also by enhancing school buildings’ safety and energy consumption. In particular, this measure aims to contribute to the improvement of energy classes and leading to lower consumption and CO2 emissions as well as to increase structural safety of buildings. Particular attention is paid to the most disadvantaged areas with the aim of tackling and eliminating economic and social imbalances.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 4.4 billion.

The project is part of this investment. The main interventions include the functional restoration of the black and white drainage networks of the school complex mainly involve the part of the outside areas. Work is planned on the inspection, diversion and sorting wells both on the ground floor and in the basement, with the replacement of manhole covers or the entire well according to the specific case. It is planned to build new sections of network for the distinction of white and black network paths, with confluence in the existing main ridges, already connected to the municipal network.

There are also some building interventions for the safety and improvement of the usability of the school complex, such as: construction of new metal ladder to the marinara for safe access to the roof replacement of the glazing that make up one of the two skylights placed on the distribution atrium for securing installation of new parapet protection against the fall from above on the roof where there is the skylight object of intervention replacement of the damaged flooring of the computer lab located on the first floor of the main body redoing of the external pavements of pedestrian walkways and sidewalks damaged construction of new external staircase near the driveway access replacement service window frame on the main atrium - emergency exit.
