Greek Smart Cities - Acharnes

The project aims to gradually transform the Municipality of Acharnes into a ‘Smart City’ through the development of new infrastructure, digital platforms and IT systems.

The smart city solutions shall enable the use of technology, information and open data to improve city infrastructure and e-services, with the ultimate goal of improving citizens’ quality of life, promoting sustainability, and boosting the city’s competitiveness.

The project includes:

  • Management of Sports and Cultural Activities with Remote Citizen Services
  • Electronic Ticket Payment Management System
  • Smart Bus Stops
  • Pedestrian Crossing Accident Prevention System
  • Urban Green Space and Public Area Management System with Sensor-Based Smart Irrigation
  • Environmental and Noise Management and Analysis System with Sensors
  • Smart Solar Trees
  • Central Interaction Portal for Citizens and Businesses using AI Technologies
  • Development of a Digital Twin with an Integrated Smart City Platform, Central User Management System, Open Data Platform, and Smart City Operations Center
  • Official Street Registry Service and Central GIS Infrastructure Mapping of Municipal Utility Networks
  • Information System for the Management of Stray and Owned Animals
  • Cyberattack Prevention and Data Integrity Assurance Platform for Municipal Users

The total budget amounts to €2,967,881, of which €2,393,453 is financed through the RRF contribution.
