Copyright: Brno City Municipality Flood protection measures on the Svratka River in Brno, specifically in the section from the Riviéra swimming area to the Uhelná Bridge, were implemented with significant support from the National Recovery Plan. The project included the removal of stone walls, widening of the riverbed, reshaping of the banks, and construction of flood protection walls. The aim was to increase the river’s capacity and protect the city from a hundred-year flood. The project also involved the construction of pedestrian and cycling paths, a new riverside promenade, and the revitalization of surrounding greenery, contributing to the creation of an attractive public space for residents. Thanks to these measures, approximately 80 hectares of land were removed from the flood zone, significantly improving the safety of residents and enhancing the quality of life in the area.
