Extraordinary maintenance works and provision of digital equipment in school

School 4.0: innovative schools, wiring, new classrooms and workshops (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.2)  

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan provides for updating school facilities into adaptable, flexible and digital learning environments, with technologically advanced workshops and a work-based learning process. 

This measure accelerates the digital transition of the Italian school system with four initiatives:

• Transformation of around 100 000 traditional classes into connected learning environments, with the introduction of related educational devices
• Creation of workshops for digital professions in the second cycle
• Digitalization of school administrations - Interior wiring cabling of approximately 40 000 school buildings and related devices.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 2.1 billion. 

This measure focuses on the progressive replacement of part of the building stock of public schools with the aim of creating modern and sustainable structures. The objectives of the interventions are the reduction of energy consumption, an increased seismic safety of buildings, and the development of green areas. The plan is expected to target 166 school buildings, with a total of 400 thousand m².

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 1 billion.Part of this investment is the project that will allow the re-roofing of the "ex Villa" and the east wing, the laying of a waterproof covering on the terrace of the "ex Villa", and the restoration of the plastering of the main hall (ex Chapel), with consequent repainting of the exterior.
