Executive project of the energy and structural requalification intervention of the gymnasium at the Floriani institute in Riva del Garda

School building security and structural rehabilitation plan (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.3)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan contributes to climate recovery also by enhancing school buildings’ safety and energy consumption. In particular, this measure aims to contribute to the improvement of energy classes and leading to lower consumption and CO2 emissions as well as to increase structural safety of buildings. Particular attention is paid to the most disadvantaged areas with the aim of tackling and eliminating economic and social imbalances.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 4.4 billion.

The investment focuses on the renovation, structural safety and energy upgrading (improvement of energy classes) of the gymnasium of the institute ‘G. Floriani’ in Riva del Garda (Trento)

The main objectives of the Floriani building project in detail are the improvement of energy classes with consequent reduction of energy consumption and CO2 emissions: the improvement of the structure from an energy and seismic point of view, specifically the replacement of the existing roof with a lighter and adequately insulated wooden one; increasing the structural safety of the building.

The main objectives of the actions that will be undertaken are:

• increased well-being for those who use the building on a daily basis
• attention to seismic response, as required for interventions on school buildings by national legislation.

Objective: 

The project contributes to the national target of renovating or reconstructing at least 2,784,000 m² of school buildings, equivalent to approximately 2,100 school buildings.

The PNRR intervention at the Floriani Institute in Riva del Garda contributes 890 m² to the Objective with 1 school building.

The work began in November 2023 and ended in May 2024.
