The Biotramuntana project receives over 800,000 euros in funding from the NextGenerationEU fund to develop effective biodiversity conservation measures in the northern part of the Serra de Tramuntana. The Mediterranean Wildlife Foundation (FVSM), which promotes land stewardship on the island of Mallorca, and the scientific entity Fundació General Universitat d'Alcalà are coordinating this project, which includes direct actions in nine municipalities covering a total area of 587,040 hectares. A raw material transformation center will be established, local consumption networks will be set up, actions will be taken to improve the environmental quality of bees to increase crop pollination efficiency and the quantity of bee products, and initiatives will be launched concerning water quality, soil erosion prevention, and the implementation of bioindicators.
