As part of its sustainability strategy, cement manufacturer Holcim (Österreich) GmbH is planning to replace the existing pusher grate clinker cooler at its Mannersdorf site (Lower Austria) with a more energy-efficient grate cooler. As the cement production process is both energy and emission-intensive, it is planned to install a cooler that will increase heat recovery efficiency from around 64% to at least 75%. This will increase the amount of heat recovered by approx. 150 MJ/t of clinker. It is expected that greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced by approx. 17,900 tons per year. The project is currently in the construction phase. Reference1.D.2 in the Austrian Recovery and Resilience PlanProject locations Austria
