The objective of the investment is to facilitate the energy upgrading and increased energy efficiency of selected public buildings, which include Schools, Fire Service Properties, the Nicosia General Hospital, water treatment plants and water pumping stations.
An important part of this investment, which has already been completed, is the thermal insulation and installation of photovoltaic systems in 405 schools, through funding of EUR 7.3 million from the Recovery and Resilience Facility.
This speficic investment aims at reducing the use of primary energy consumption from fossil fuels through the installation of photovoltaics in public school buildings, contributing to the national and European targets set for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy.
