Energy efficiency of the Falcone-Borsellino Municipal Multipurpose Hall - Ragusa, Sicily

Improve energy efficiency, in cinema, theatres and museums (Mission 1, Component 3, Investment 1.3)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan provides for the improvement of the energy efficiency of buildings linked to the cultural and creative sector.

They are often found in outdated, energy inefficient facilities that generate high maintenance costs related to air-conditioning, lighting, communication and safety.

The investment finances actions to improve the energy efficiency of Italian museums, cinemas and theatres (both public and private).

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 210 million.

The project aiming at improving energy efficiency of the municipal multipurpose hall Falcone-Borsellino is part of this investment.

The measures used to achieve the objective were as follows: renovation of the existing air conditioning system, installation of a controlled mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery, replacement of inefficient lighting fixtures with LED lamps, replacement of part of the existing windows and doors with new ones having better performance characteristics, and replacement of the existing faucets and toilet flush boxes with new ones with reduced flow rate for water saving.

The amount of NRRP funds is EUR 200,000 and the project is already usable by citizens.
