School building security and structural rehabilitation plan (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.3)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan contributes to climate recovery also by enhancing school buildings’ safety and energy consumption. In particular, this measure aims to contribute to the improvement of energy classes and leading to lower consumption and CO2 emissions as well as to increase structural safety of buildings.

Particular attention is paid to the most disadvantaged areas with the aim of tackling and eliminating economic and social imbalances.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 4.4 billion. The project is part of this investment.

The Liceo Scientifico "Albert Einstein" is located in the north of the city of Turin, in the Barrier district of Milan, and occupies the area between the streets Leoncavallo to the west, Via G.

Pacini to the north, Via Gaetano Pugnani to the South and Via Tollegno to the East.

The latter stands between the school building and the building of the gyms.

The school is composed of two buildings: the body of classrooms with entrance from via Pacini and the body of the gyms and auditorium with entrance from the adjacent via Tollegno. The two buildings are connected by an underground tunnel.

The project of extraordinary maintenance, regulatory and functional adjustment, provides for different areas of building intervention both inside the body classrooms and inside the block gyms and auditorium in Via Tollegno.

The project involves the construction of a system of over-coverage of the flat roof of the building of Via Pacini 28 and related ancillary works; the rehabilitation of the damaged parts of the facades of the institute; the safety of portions of the floor coverings by the installation of anti-melting systems and the replacement of lighting fixtures in the rooms concerned; the regulatory adaptation of the glazed surfaces by replacing the windows in the corridors of the first and second floors of the classrooms body; intervention in the decoration of the walls and ceilings of gyms.
