The initiative aims to launch a large digitalisation wave in cultural institutions, thus preserving Austria´s cultural heritage and making their archives more accessible to a wider public. It consists of a funding programme and the relaunch of Kulturpool, the online platform for Austria´s cultural heritage.The Federal Ministry of Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport launched the funding programme "Kulturerbe digital" with a budget of EUR 15 million. The Ministry published two calls, applications were possible from 21 November 2022 until 31 January 2023 and from 25 October 2023 until 29 February 2024.As a result of the funding programme at least 600 000 cultural objects from 115 institutions will be digitalised by the end of 2025 (incluging 500 analogue films and 55 000 3D objects).Since its relaunch in March 2024 “Kulturpool” functions as the central search and service platform that merges the digitalised cultural objects.
