Digital Transformation of Enterprise in Ireland

This investment, which received EUR 85 million from the Recovery and Resilience Facility, aims at tackling the imbalance of digitalisation among companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and to enhance the digitalisation of businesses in Ireland.

The investment consists of supporting programmes aimed at the digitalisation of companies in Ireland, such as developing online presence and cyber security measures, digitalisation of products and business processes, and using digital technologies to develop new markets and business models.

In addition, a new digital portal was launched in July 2024 which allows companies to assess their digital capability and then advise on the supports available to improve their offering through digital technologies.

At least 720 companies shall have received funding by end of Q2 of 2026. As of September 2024, 354 projects have been approved for funding under the Digital Transition Fund.

4 European Digital Innovation Hubs, FactoryXChange, CeADAR, Data2Sustain and ENTIRE were established in 2023. These hubs serve as ‘one-stop shops', providing access to technical expertise and experimentation, as well as innovation services, and training and skills development necessary for successful digital transformation. Importantly, the Hubs are providing their services to SMEs and PSOs at low or no cost.
