The NextGenerationEU funds are financing the deployment of Eivibicing, Ibiza's new public bicycle service.

The project, coordinated by the City Council, will establish 20 stations distributed throughout the city with 200 bicycles, including 100 electric ones.

The service is aimed at both residents and tourists and is launched with affordable prices for occasional use and subscription offers for residents with an annual cost of 35 euros.

The network of stations will be coordinated with the creation of bike lanes on the E-10 road and on Extremadura Street, connecting to Passeig Marítim-Jesús and secure parking areas.

Overall, a reduction in the number of vehicles in the city center is expected, along with the recovery of degraded spaces due to the aggressive presence of cars and the promotion of bike-public transport intermodality.

The project, which has a subsidy of 1.7 million euros from the NextGenerationEU funds, aims to increase non-motorized trips by 20% (which currently represent 40% of daily trips).

It is based on data demonstrating the potential of bicycles to improve sustainability in urban mobility, as 45% of motorized trips in Ibiza last less than 10 minutes.
