Copyright: French Government Luzeal is the leading French cooperative in the field of dehydration and produces 35% of national dehydrated alfalfa in France at 5 industrial sites. The investment concerns the installation of a low temperature dryer (105 to 70 C°) replacing a high temperature dryer (150 to 600 C°), in order to recover fatal heat from the city waste incineration plant. Luzeal will reduce the consumption of fossil fuel (lignite) by moving its production sites towards biomass. The total cost of the investment is EUR 3.7 million, with EUR 1.6 million coming from the Recovery and Resilience Facility, channelled through the “heat fund” implemented by the French Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME). This project will reduce CO2 emissions on site by 40%, i.e. by 7,680 tonnes equivalent each year.
