The ArcelorMittal factory in Saint-Chély d'Apcher will receive EUR 3.2 million from the Recovery and Resilience Facility to modernise its production lines for steel intended for electric mobility. The total investment of 17 million euros will help rationalise the site's energy consumption and limit scrap steel, which will lead to energy savings of 12 GWh per year, and a reduction in CO2 emissions of 14,000 tons per year. The ArcelorMittal site in Saint-Chély-d’Apcher, created in 1917, is the only French producer of non-grain oriented electrical steel. The steel produced by this site is notably used in motors of electric vehicles or in high-efficiency generators of wind turbines. The factory is the largest private employer in Lozère.
