Plan for nurseries and preschools and early childhood education and care services (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 1.1)Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan includes an investment plan for the 0-6 age group, aimed at increasing the supply of childcare facilities by building, renovating and ensuring the safety of nurseries and preschools, to ensure an increase in the educational offer and the available slots for the 0-6 age group, and thus improve teaching quality. The measure is expected to encourage women’s participation in the labour market and support caregivers in reconciling family and professional life. The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 3.2 billion. The project envisaging the construction of a kindergarten in Marina di Ragusa is part of this investment. The goal of the project is to build a preschool consisting of nine sections in the seaside hamlet of Marina di Ragusa. This "new children's home" will be a new landmark as much spatial as symbolic for the area in order to foster an inclusive and highly communicative settlement. The general plan layout includes a sunburst pattern of the south-facing classrooms and the curved roof walkway, as if following the foliage and branches of a tree. The measures used to achieve the objective, in line with the latest school policies, are: the allocation of outdoor green areas, to be used for vegetable gardens, play spaces and teaching, the recovery of rainwater from roofs and outdoor paved areas, with its accumulation in special cisterns for irrigation reuse, structural and plant engineering technologies, as well as the materials used, which combine the psychophysical well-being of the spaces, with the active energy balance of the building. The amount of NRRP funds is EUR 5.8 million and the construction site is open.
