Construction of a canteen at Via D. Ciampoli 15

Plan for the extension of full-time (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 1.2)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan provides for the extension of school time, in order to increase the educational offer of schools and make them open and available to the territory beyond school hours. The measure envisages the construction or renovation of canteen spaces for at least 1 000 structures to allow for the extension of school time. Extended schooling hours are expected to have a positive impact on the fight against early school leaving.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 1 billion.

The project provides for the construction of a new canteen for the F. Amatuzio Pallotta school building, intended to serve all students in the school.

According to the executive project report, the design concept includes the creation of a dining hall with a capacity of 50 people, a kitchen, a storage room with direct external access, a dishwashing area, a staff changing room, and restrooms for students. The layout of the spaces has been designed to ensure an efficient meal service for all students attending the school complex.

Specifically, since the total number of students to be served is 83, the management plan foresees two meal shifts per day. To reduce the environmental impact on the surrounding urban area, the roof of the new building will be landscaped and equipped with green areas, including space for a small organic educational garden as part of the “school gardens” project, as well as a recreational area, which is currently lacking.

The load-bearing structure, consisting of a reinforced concrete frame (beams and columns), will be anchored to a 40 cm thick foundation slab. The roof slab will be made of reinforced concrete with hollow bricks. The entire structure has been designed in compliance with current seismic safety regulations, specifically the NTC 2018 standards.

The project is currently being implemented. This project is financed by the Recovery and Resilience Facility with EUR 346.500,00.
