Copyright: Croatian Government The objective of the investment, worth EUR 97 million, is to build and equip four logistics and distribution infrastructure centres for fruit and vegetables by end-June 2026, thereby improving the competition in the agricultural and food sector. The logistic distribution centres will contribute to reducing food loss and waste and will use renewable energy sources for their operation. One of the centres has already been built in Osijek, co-financed by EUR 10 million from the Croatian Recovery and Resilience Fund. The construction of this centre is one of the basic prerequisites for connecting small producers in the Osijek-Baranja County and the wider region of Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem to become more competitive by enabling them to offer their products throughout the year. The distribution centre has a storage capacity of over 3,000 tonnes, including 690 tonnes for eco products. This project was visited in December 2022 by Toma Šutić, member of EVP Šuica cabinet, and the Representation staff as part of the regional outreach during the First Recovery and Resilience Facility Annual Event.
