The Comprehensive Conservation of Negova Castle - the Old Castle, the North Tower and Park

The project's objective is to renovate the old castle, northern defense tower, and substantially enhance the surrounding landscape and open spaces, thereby concluding the comprehensive restoration of the entire castle complex that started in 2006.

Through comprehensive renovations, the historical components of the castle complex will be preserved and enhanced. Extending beyond the castle walls, the project also involves redesigning and replanting the park surrounding the castle.

The newly installed program within the castle will cater to diverse interests, spread across the various floors and encompassing the castle basement, ground floor, first floor, and attic. Additionally, software processing of the castle wall tower will contribute to the overall immersive experience.

As part of the restoration efforts for the old castle, a particular emphasis will be placed on establishing an education and training program targeting children, pupils, students, and conservation experts and forging connections between cultural heritage and various forms of cultural expression, such as theater performances and the presentation of traditional crafts, appealing to all generations.

This investment seeks to breathe new life into Negova Castle, offering a multifaceted experience that combines historical preservation with dynamic cultural and educational opportunities for visitors of all ages.

Financial support for this initiative is provided by the Recovery and Resilience Facility, contributing EUR 7.5 million to a project valued at EUR 9.9 million in total.

The revelation of the castle's renovation plans took place in 2022, and the actual restoration is set to begin in 2024 and 2025, reaching completion in June 2026. Anticipated to open its doors to the public in the summer of 2026, the renovated castle represents a significant milestone in the revitalization of this historic site.
