Classic and smart grid development for transmission system operator and distribution system operators

The objective of the investment is to allow for the secure and flexible integration of energy produced from renewable sources into the electricity grid.

The investment (EUR 1,495 million from the Recovery and Resilience Facility) to be carried out by the distribution system operators and the transmission system operator will allow to connect in a smart way additional electricity capacities of more than 5,000 MW to the grid, produced from renewable energy sources.

The projects are composed of thousands of smaller and larger development elements and include high/medium/low voltage network construction and upgrades, new substation installations, substation transformer replacements and expansions, constructions and replacement of controls, as well as digitalisation developments.

Several related grant contracts have been signed and advance payments to the recipients have been made. Full Implementation is expected by 2026.
