Citizen inclusion - Accessibility improvement of digital public services

The initiative aims to enhance accessibility across a broad spectrum of digital public services through a multifaceted approach. Key strategies include conducting accessibility tests on all public administration websites, engaging in communication and dissemination activities such as publishing white papers and providing open data on statistics, developing specialized web kits, and allocating funding to local Public Administrations (PAs) to improve the accessibility of digital touchpoints.

To ensure the attainment of project objectives, active collaboration and knowledge exchange with major stakeholders in the sector are planned, starting with national associations representing individuals with disabilities.

AGID will spearhead the coordination of the project, overseeing stakeholder engagement and implementation efforts.

The target demographic for this initiative includes regions and metropolitan cities, aiming to improve accessibility across various geographical areas.

The project is slated to unfold from Q2 2022 to Q2 2026, allowing ample time for comprehensive implementation and impact assessment.

An estimated budget of EUR 80 million has been allocated, with a significant portion of EUR 62 million designated for providing technical and financial support to local PAs in aligning with ICT accessibility national regulations, as outlined in the financing and costs section.
