Building and renovation of crèches - Walloon Region

This new crèche - “Les Ploquettes” - opened in 2024 in Stembert, near Verviers, where there is a shortage of places in daycare for babies and toddlers. This investment has created places for 49 children and 15 jobs for caregivers. 

To improve the coverage of early childcare, the Recovery and Resilience Facility invests EUR 61 million in the construction and energy-efficient renovation of crèches throughout Wallonia. 

New places are created particularly in those areas with a low childcare coverage, a low female employment rate, a high share of single parents and a low per capita income. 

The implementation of the investment shall be completed by 30 June 2026.
