The biodiversity fund contributes to the protection, conservation and restoration of biodiversity in Austria. It supports the implementation of the national biodiversity strategy and the achievement of the biodiversity objectives.The biodiversity fund support projects in the fields of biodiversity conservation, improvement of endangered species and habitats, management of biodiversity, restoration of degraded areas, in particular those which are highly relevant also for climate protection such as peatlands, improvement of knowledge about biodiversity (including biodiversity monitoring) as well as strengthening public awareness about importance of biodiversity and ecosystem services.The RRF provides EUR 50 million in total for the Austria biodiversity fund.The national law for the biodiversity fund came into force in April 2022. The implementation agency Kommunalkredit Public Consulting KPC has been entrusted with the administration of the biodiversity fund. So far, four calls have been launched.
